Okay, here’s a really deep question of the day:
“Do you tip at coffee shops?”
The reason I ask? Me and mine were at the mall this weekend and, for the first time in maybe over a year, the OH wanted a sugary Starbucks confection called: coffee. Me? Not so much. So we went. We ordered. They got some spiced cinnamon latte affair and me? I got a cranberry refresher.
But, when paying, I was asked to tip on the machine. Not just a percentage. I was asked to pay either: $2, $3 or $5 …
Are You Forking Kidding Me?
The drinks themselves were expensive enough. Mine being some cranberry flavoured syrup watered down with a cup full of ice, and costing $6+ taxes. Almost $15 for TWO drinks. And then, they want a blasted tip?
I was, to say the least, both not amused and surprised. Whatever happened to the tip jar that was voluntary? Talk about emotional blackmail.
And hey, Starbucks, pay your staff a living wage!
